Melanoid questions

I have a leucistic axie that carries the melanoid gene and have been thinking about trying to breed her (hopefully her...) in a year or two. So I just wanted to ask if someone could tell me a bit more about the melanoid genetics. What is the difference between a black melanoid and grey melanoid? Is there a genetic difference or are they just different shades like there are different shades of wild types?

Melanoid is a simple recessive, but like wildtypes there are varying shades. If you pair your leucistic carrying melanoid gene with another axie carrying a melanoid gene you should get 25% melanoid babies, but you could get other types as well depending on the genes available.
