Nippy (note the middle-left gill stalk regeneration) thinks he can stalk me from behind the hornwort and pounce on me. I don't think he realizes that he's aquatic.

And Blue shows that she's just as pretty as her sister, just a bit different...

They look lovely as ever! I notice you call them "he" and "she" and "she". Are they sexable already?

Jen, at almost 7", they're getting close to mature. There's a noticable difference in head shape (nippy's head is significantly narrower than the other two (at least, i think females have wider heads. good thing they've got ambiguous names!)), although i havent taken the time to do a thorough cloaca-inspection (this seems somehow.... violating to them. lol). They're only 6 months old, but they're big for their age!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
