Does anyone have any experience with Plethodon elongatus, Aneides ferreus or Battrachoseps attenuatus?
Thanks, George

Hi George,

I have experience with all three species. How can I help?

Sorry for not making myself clearer. I was just wondering whether they make good captives, and what sort of set-up and diet you gave them. Do you have any pictures of their tanks?
Thanks, George.

I keep Batrachoseps. They are pretty straight forward. Make sure you keep the enclosure moist. They are a nice beginner species. I keep 2 of them. They can be pretty fast and feisty, and are escape artists so be prepared. I don't have exact experience with Aneides ferreus (Clouded Salamander) but I keep Aneides lugubris (Arboreal Salamander), I imagine they are similar. For more care info, type in "Aneides care" or "Batrachoseps care" and some things will pop up.

I was talking about Batrachoseps attenuatus (CA slender salamander) If you want me to direct you to a caresheet regarding them please ask. You can only find them in CA.

Thanks for asking,
Aneides

PM me if you want.

Aneides

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
