Jeff, I still worry whether it might be a bacterial thing.

Cynthia, that's a definate possibility!

Hi Joan

I do still have a worry over the state of her eyes, but have been monitoring her for several weeks now. viewed from the side there does not appear to be any build up on the eye surface at all and no other incidence anywhere else on her.

I had Morg have a look when he called in the other day. He advised to keep an eye on her and watch for any incidence anywhere else. Needless to say I keep a close eye on her.

Thanks for your concern and I will keep you updated if anything changes in either way.

Thanks Cynthia.

Her sister his almost identical except for a little patch towards the rear of her abdomen that is totally colourless and having perfectly clear eyes.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
