Hi, I'm Lisa from the US.
I've seen pictures of Axolotls before, I love pokemon and people have made it into a real life mudkip. I've always loved larval state tiger salamanders, and when i found out Axolotls dont change i automatically loved them.
The animals are so cool, and currently i have a few other animals and i'm in college so I wont beable to get one at the moment, but I want to find out as much as possible!

I have two corn snakes[yearlings], three 'weather' loaches, a sucker fish, and a gold fish; a corgi, two cats and two hermit crabs.

That's about it.

Welcome to the forum Lisa. It's good to see that you are willing to research axolotls first before going out and purchasing one.

Welcome to the Newt and Salamander Portal!
I have a weather loach too-I think they are very cool.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
