Hi everyone,

I was thinking of starting a small planted tank where I was going to raise snails and ghost shrimp. Which I would then feed to my axolotl as a treat and also to help clean the tank(please not the snails will be going to some future fish I am getting not to the axolotl). I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to quarantine them and go about raising them. I am just gathering information now, I know that I will at least have a small planted tank, so also plant suggestions would be awesome.

Thanks for the feedback,
Suz

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
