it's gotten hot here rather suddenly ( like 50-80 overnight) and my boyfriend has been insisting on keeping our bedroom windows open which makes it so much hotter ... However I can't close it because we do need the air flow.

I did find a window fan with individual controls so I can set one to blow towards the tank and one away. Would this work?

Right now I just have a box fan pointed at the tank to bring it down a few degrees.

I don't know if it would work or not to cool the tank (I'm sure it would though) but I do have one of those window fans and they work really well to cool down the bedroom. : ) I plan on using the one I have when I get my tank set up.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
