Ive had my Axolotl for week and a half he is fine eating, swimming, and seems happy but he came with tiny frills, will they grow. What does it mean if he has little ones does it mean he is sick? He/she is 4inches long and green.

They might grow a bit over time. He/she looks healthy so I wouldn't worry about it.

Wow, beautiful axolotl! My thoughts would be that it could be metamorphosising into a newt.
If it isn't, it's gills will grow back. Just keep changing it's water.

The axolotl will not change into a newt...nor does it look like it is morphing. Some axolotl don't have big gills.
Joanna, your axolotl is a lovely colour :D

Hi Joanna, I'm a new axolotl owner too, and when I bought mine from the pet store, he also had little gills like yours! It's been about 3-4 weeks now and they're slowly growing a bit longer (not symmetrically, but that just makes it cuter). I've attached a couple of photos of him I took just last week. Hopefully yours will start growing overtime as well :animal:
