I have 10 growing axolotls (quickly out growing their little Tupperware cups) and am wondering when it is recommended to combine them in one home.......thanks!

i'd say when they are starting to grow all there legs and get a bit bigger, i'm no expert but then they become around an inch and a half long or so, but make sure as they grow bigger dont keep all of them in one tank, a 3ft tank is probably okay for two fully grown axies, you can keep them all together when small but as they get bigger, bigger tanks will be needed and more tanks.

hope this helps a little like i said im no expert

also if you are keeping them all together while they are smaller, make sure there are a lot of hiding spots for all of them so they dont get in each others way so much, you could make your own hides, cheaper and funnier that buying them from a shop :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
