Hello everyone,

When I bought Sunny, I was after a male. I saw Sunny and there was absolutly no doubt he was male. Huge cloaca, slim body. Nothing like a female.
I have been noticing that lately, his body shape has stayed the same, but his cloaca seems to have shunken away to the point he looks female, but it cannot be as hes got a male body?

Anyone else heard of it, or has some advice?

Thanks
Blaze

Nutrition and breeding status plays a part. Very obese male axies may appear to be more 'female' in shape. Very undernourished axies can appear to have a 'shrinking' cloaca as well. The axie cloaca can also look more prominent during breeding time compared to other periods. As long as your axie is healthy otherwise, there shouldn't be a problem.

Ohh hmmm.

Hes very healthy, no signs of stress. Hes not skinny. He has a slim face and long tail.

I think hes just a weird one =]

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
