Help! I've had my axie for just under a year and he's been fed on a diet of frozen blackworm cubes up until now! He hasn't eaten for a bit over a week now. I bought sinking pellets to change his diet, he snapped at them the first few times then spat them out again now he doesn't even bother. When I try to handfeed him the cubes he lifts his head but then seems to get startled and swims away.

I've tested pH and ammonia and they are both fine, I have done a water change and the temperature is sitting at about 22 degrees Celsius. (I use frozen water bottles to drop the temperature but hard to maintain in the middle of a tropical summer). I've got sand in there and haven't had a problem with impaction before.

Is he just sick of his food or should I put him in the fridge for a few days?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
