Sharky growing up!

Here's some photos of my ugly lil monster Sharky/Smudges, from when I got him/her to today, about a 6 month period.
I thought you guys might also find it interesting to see how his/her spots have darkened so much (especially between pics 3 and 4) and the gills growing disproportionately big in between, like a teenager's ears, hehe!
Pardon the gravel in the first pic, that didn't last long.
He/she's certainly not the prettiest axie on the boards, with that blackface style make-up, and he/she's only getting uglier with time, but hey, if I wanted a pretty aquarium pet I'd have bought a fish :)
This little mini sea monster is so much fun!

I love this axolotl. It reminds me of those cartoons when a bomb explodes in their face and then their face is all covered in soot.

Oh my gosh I can't believe I never saw it like that before, now it's all I can see when I look at him! Or when a cannon in a road runner cartoon's not working, so coyote sticks his head down it to check, then.. well you know :D
Seems really fitting the way axolotls bump/poke their big ol heads everywhere :p

But he is unique and he is loved :)

it also looks like he/she has been digging around in lots of mud! :D i absolutly love him/her soooo cute!
 
He/She is very unique, I like the 4th picture of him/her :D !
 
This is a nice sequence of pictures of a lovely axolotl. I cannot see any reflective ring in its eyes so I guess it is either melanoid or axanthic as well as leucistic. I really like the well marked leucistics!
 
Your axie is like Michael Jackson in the opposite way =D

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
