I'm decorating my new tank in bright colors, but if I keep buying aquarium decorations, it gets really expensive. Does anyone have ideas on how to make bright decorations from stuff at home?

I'm not sure that a tank decorated in bright colors would make any difference to the stress level of the animal but I personally prefer either basic setups or naturalistic designs with live plants, rocks, driftwood, etc. To each his own however but just keep in mind that salamanders in general come from "bright color free" environments. I am in no way trying to make fun of your personal taste but remember that the health of your animal should come first.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
