So I have three axolotls, in a split tank (2 one side, 1 the other due to sizes) and my 8 month axolotls have just laid eggs, didnt notice them and found them yesterday and so far 7 out of 8 hatched! Was wondering apart from BBS what other people use, I go away for a week luckily my auntie is looking after them for me. Great timing! I had axolotl eggs before but they all died, was wondering what good things to keep them alive!

Thanks
Hannah:D

Get some micro worms, or if you do brine shrimp, keep them warmer and they will hatch faster.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
