My husband and I are in Salem, Oregon. We have a new 2 month old leucistic/GFB axolotl in our home, our first. He has been here two days so far. Here are some pictures.

Awwwee, your axolotls are SO cute! Welcome to Caudata.org! I’m sure you’ll find everyone on this website very helpful :)
Is it alright if I give a quick pointer? I noticed that you have a gravel-like substance in your tank (if I am wrong about that, please correct me). If your axolotl eats it, most likely it will become impacted. I would hate for you to loose your new axies! They are absolutely adorable :) I would recommend taking it out and either replacing it with sand or leaving it bare bottom. Your axolotls would be happy with the tank either way!

Super cute! Like Isabella said that substrate could be a problem. For juveniles under 5 inches it's best to have no substrate at all. Depending on the size of the substrate it may be fine for adults.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
