ADF agression or accident?

So I added two african dwarf frogs to my betta tank about a week ago after a quarantine and they didn't seem to have any problems with each other both ate fine but tonight I found them doing what appeared to be fighting.

I didn't see how it started but it looked like the larger one had the smaller one's foot skin in it's mouth? I quickly stuck my hand in the separate them and then checked them both over but they both seemed completely fine. All toes and knees and everything seemed fine. I'm wondering if this "skin" that I saw the larger one eat could have been some slime coat or something? Is there anything I should do (add api stress coat or something)? The little guy seems totally fine..

They are not an aggressive species, they do shed regularly and will eat each others skin, they may have been scuffling over that but its hardly fighting.

Thank you! That makes a lot more sense, I'm sorry I wasn't aware that they shed or that they ate it... just saw someone's foot in someone's mouth and assumed the worst but thank you for clearing that up for me.

I don't know, mine can get a little rough with each other. When I feed my 3 ADF's frozen blood worms they'll snap and bite at each other. No one wants to share, lol. They've never hurt each other though, all little toes are still ok, thank goodness.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
