Hi everyone! My axolotl has been pooping alot lately, and I can keep up. And it's not that he's pooping his usual large chunks, but just ALOT of brown flakes. This just started happening a few days ago, but I'm not sure what to do or look for.

Should I put him in a cold bath? Should I check my parameters or make my tank cooler? Should I be change his diet? Should I just wait it out?

Got him in May. 7 months old as of today - usually eats a few pellets once a day, some blood worms every few days, and hoping to put him on earthworms or nightcrawlers very soon (still trying to find a good supplier).

Photo attachments are just a small amount of what's been happening.

Please help!!

Have you seen him in the act, or do you just find it like this? My axolotl still mainly eats bloodworms as well, and sometimes his poo ends up just like this if it gets thrashed around by him swimming. I can’t say for sure but hopefully it’s nothing to worry about! Good luck!

I've seen that as well....usually as a result of somebody walking through it or swimming over it, and on one memorable occasion Vita decided to poop while perched halfway up a plant. that was pretty odd to see happen, and it wound up as something other than the kind of cohesive lump you normally expect.

I've noticed my axolotls poop tends to be like this when they eat pellets rather than earthworms. I would just keep an eye on his behaviorr, weight, looking for parasites in droppings, and monitoring the tank chemistry. Other than change his diet to earthworms I can't think of anything else to do, or that its something you need to be concerned about

I've got this too  It's so hard to siphon it all up. My axies love to poop at the back of the tank so they can walk through it before I notice it :/

sorry, late second reply...I'm pretty sure they wait until I've gone to bed or left for work before pooping. It's possible they like poop for some reason.
