I recently got a golden albino axolotl that's about 4" named Nugget.
The first week I noticed Nugget's left arm looked kind of funny, but thought it might just be at the moment type thing since Nugget was always in awkward spots. About 3 days into the 2nd week I noticed the arm started turning white and a strange flab started growing right above the elbow. So i'm wondering if Nugget's arm is broken and what should I do? I did look at the sticky for vets and called the ones closets to me, but no dice. Do you guys think if it comes to it, Nugget would be alright with a 30-1hr drive? I can get a cooler and do have access to 3 ice packs to help keep the transport container cool for the ride. If push does come to shove, I am prepared to perform the procedure myself.

Thank you.

I would suggest NOT cutting the arm off itself. I don't think the arm is necessarily broken, it probably just got nipped or injured before you got it and then regrew in a very weird way (nothing is perfect in nature, it happens often with animals that regrow their limbs). So I would definitely see if there's a vet that can do it in the area. A 30 hour drive seems pretty excessive for a vet no?

I'm just saying that because I live in Canada and there's not even that many exotic vets to begin with but the drive is only 2-3 hours if ever I need to see one.
