Beautiful species/subspecies guide for Salamandra

My question is why if the spiecies overlap why is there no crossed subspiecies of the two?
While hybrids probably do occur in the wild, it's worth keeping the subspecies separate in captivity because it's worth having pure subspecies lineages in captivity.
