Hello!
I'm a salamander enthusiast living right now in California. I had to downsize my collection because of moving, so right now I only have a pair of P. Waltl, but I've kept N. viridescens, T. granulosa, A. mexicanum, and A. maculatum. After a long while I'm finally getting into a position where I can rebuild my collection, and I'm excited to get more again.

Welcome to Caudata! I wish you and your collection well. Im hoping to acquire some axolotls in the future, Ive found this site to be quite a lot of help as I prepare. It sounds like you already know a thing or two about them. Glad you joined the community, if you run into any trouble Im sure they can help. Or maybe you can help someone else.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
