First mantella eggs

Ian, thank you for sharing your valuable experiences. Thank you for making the effort to upload these images. This is all greatly valued and appreciated. All information, 'real information' which will contribute to the successful husbandry of stock by other enthusiasts. Priceless.

Thanks. This information was freely given to me by others so I'm happy to pass it on

Yes but you pass it on because you have used it successfully (no doubt modifying it a little according to your experiences) and have confidence in it as you know it works and that ups its value considerably.

After a winter cooling period with temps dropping to around 10c my mantella have started breeding again. Pulled a couple of batches which have started hatching over the last couple of days, the females are all looking chunky and full of eggs. I still have frogs morphing from last year and intend to increase my adult colony from 20+ to 50+, so will have a big build to do latter in the year

Frogs are looking chunky and calling expecting eggs soon. Im hoping for a good breeding year, i was ill last year and didnt do much with my collection.

The first golden to leave the water, have a few hundred more to go and the adults are still laying. Should be a productive year for my colony.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
