Hi guys,

Just wanted to share this with you. I "had" (it has since died) a really interesting colour Axolotl hatchling.

I understand that Axolotl hatchlings can change colour as they develop ~ but this one was a pinky/copper colour; and what's more interesting were it's eyes - they were like an albino; reflective iris but no black pupil (like an albino).

I sold the batch of spawn this one was from - this little fellow was one of two eggs I found in the adults tank when cleaning.

Sorry, I don't have photos - unfortunatley it died before I could take one. :(

Cheers, Phil

Sounds neat, though - thanks for sharing!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
