"detoxing " worms

So....I've been given a bucket full of big fat juicy garden worms, but cannot verify whether any pesticides / chemicals have been used in the garden. :confused:

Is there any way I can detox the worms before feeding to my axies just in case???

If the worms have been in contact with pesticides or herbicides you should not use them. If there is any doubt as to whether chemicals have been used in the garden you should not take the risk. Many garden chemicals are non-lethal to earthworms but that doesn't mean the chemicals won't bioaccumulate within animals further up the food chain and amphibians have been shown to be very sensitive to many herbicides and pesticides.

Hmmmmm...Yes... Most definitely better to be safe than sorry...

UGH!!! And they were so nice and big and fat and juicy too!!!!! :(

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
