Question: "Gold" axolotl with dark eyes?

That's a nice answer =) Thanks!

Wondered if anyone had such a different-unknow type of axo =)

Something else to consider - what colour are his gills?
My leucistics have red gills, but my goldens have gold + always have done. Your guy looks like he has pale red, so maybe linked to leucistic in some way more than other types, even if not a classic leucie?

Thanks guys!

That is such a great pic of all 3 of them together!!! What a bunch of cuties!

I was lucky to be able to shoot that scene! :bowl:

His gills are very red when he's active, it's a very beautiful contrast with such a bright yellow color!
He's usually pretty lazy so his gills look lighter most of the time!

I recently made a post about these being sold as neon green gfp axolotls. They are just very gfp leucistics.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
