Hey y'all!

So excited to be joining the forum. My gramps introduced me to herpetology when I was little, and ever since I've been a herp gal. Admittedly I've been more on the reptile side of things, but I recently fell in love with newts and decided to get some Danube cresteds of my own. They're only five months and are just teeny tiny, but they all have a personality of their own and I absolutely love them!

Also, I want to give a preemptive hello to Otterwoman! I've been lurking here for a while, and all of your advice has been extremely helpful in setting up my first aquatic environment. Thank you so much for helping a wannabe herpetologist follow her newty dreams :)

Can't wait to learn more from y'all,

poggle

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
