Just had to share. My little guy is so cute. He likes to nibble at your fingers and sit in your hand.

is that chicken wire on the bottom of your tank..

nice close up, macro setting on your camera + a REALLY steady hand/tripod will help alot.

Yeah it's in the glass, probably reinforcement. Came with the tank, mind you the tank was only $10

Great pics! What a cutie. Thanks for sharing!

Very unusual, can't say I have ever seen an axolotl this colour before!!!! I love colour variants. Did you breed him, if so what colour were his parents? He is fab :)

in your last picture, your axolotl reminds me of a muppet! Thanks for sharing.

Last visit to the forum by the OP/Photographer was 19th June 09, so not much chance of his/her seeing this. You could try PMing the OP and hoping they have their settings set to send an email notifying them about new PMs that might bring them back to read it.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
