I've just been given two adult females. I've read the care sheet, and it recommends that the water temperature should ideally not exceed 18 degrees. What is the minimum recommended temperature? Will they stand the winter in frost-free greenhouse?

Thank you for the link, but I had read that. My quandary is should I keep these indoors at close to 65 degrees, or will they stand overwintering in a frost free greenhouse, where the temperature could drop to 40 degrees. I have much more space available outside for a larger tank.
Someone on another site has answered my query, so no more replies are necessary thank you.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
