I‘be had this salamander for about a month and a half and within that time it has morphed. It’s been a couple weeks since it’s morphed but it won’t eat and now it’s losing quite a bit of weight. It has a deformity where it was born with one eye and I’m unsure of whether or not it’s an axolotl that was unhappy with my water and morphed or if it’s a tiger salamander, but I’m really worried about it and would like to know what is causing it to refuse food. I feed my salamanders earthworms and they were all raised on tong feedings. On occasion I offer other things but they seem to prefer the worms. I really hope I don‘t lose this one since I’ve already lost 6 other larvae from the stress of transport. I appreciate any and all help

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
