Default New to salamander care! I just need to know if I知 doing things right

I just today got my Marbled Salamander (Ambystoma opacum) shipped from a trusted reptile store and she is the cutest thing ever! I致e done my research, but I just want to make sure I知 doing everything right. Besides mammals, I own a fish now, and I致e owned a herbit crab, a turtle, a bearded dragon, and a leopard gecko (who is now a class pet for an art class!) This is my first amphibian, and I知 kind of nervous.

It has dark grey bands so I知 inclined to believe that 妬t is a 都he. She lives in a 10 gallon tank with coconut fiber substrate and sphagnum moss. There痴 one wide but shallow water dish, a large plant that provide shade and hiding, and one of those reptile logs. I also mist the cage with amphibian treated water (I put one drop in the water) and also a fan to keep the vivarium cool.

Beyond that, I致e read that it痴 normal for salamanders not to eat when they池e first adjusting to their new settings. Is this true? She didn稚 eat when I offered her bloodworms, but I don稚 know if that痴 because she痴 still adjusting, or because they don稚 eat dead insects. I致e read in from different sources that they will eat dead insects if you trick them, and others that they will not. Regardless, if she doesn稚 start accepting food I will go out and get live if necessary.

Anyways, I was just checking to see if I need improvements anywhere because this has gotten me very nervous. I致e picked her up a few times after washing my hands with cold water to make sure she was okay, and she tolerated that for only a little bit. She痴 now burrowing in the coconut fiber. I just need to know if everything is alright so I don稚 feel the need to constantly check on her and potentially stress her out. Thanks all!
