I have 3 ambystoma maculatum larvae that I have been raising. The largest is a little over an inch long and the other two are about 3/4 of an inch. When will they morph?

I didn't mean to post the thumbs down icon. Also they are outside if that helps.

It depends. If you keep them cool and well-fed, maybe not until late summer, and at a large size.

Thanks for your help. At what size do they normally morph?

I underestimated how big they were the largest is about 2 inches.

When I try to post an image it says that it is not a valid image file even though it is saved on my computer. Can anyone help?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
