So I just rescaped my 60gal for my axolotls and now Im worried about them breeding. Theyve done it randomly before. Its just that this time it would be very difficult to remove the eggs and I wouldnt feel right just letting them hatch and die. Is there any way to prevent breeding without relocating the male?

Yep no way except separation. A divider will probably work but I've heard many times of axolotls getting through haha

We kept 2 55 gallon main tanks, one for females and one for males. We also have a 40 gallon grow out tank that is used to house juvies once they pass their qt period to live in prior to sexing.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
