So I've read conflicting information on how often to feed a juvenile (under 5 inches) axolotl. I've heard every day, and I've heard every three days.

Currently I've been feeding Dragon, my juvenile, every day- either cut up segments of earthworm, or bloodworms, or the occasional treat of brine shrimp. He doesn't eat much, but is nice and rounded in his belly. He poops regularly and is active, but I'm worried I'm feeding him too often.

Is this too often? Should I be feeding him every other day or every three days?

That is perfect! I even feed mine twice per day... they grow like weeds!! :)

Sounds perfect. At under 5 inches, you can definitely feed every day.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
