Hello! My name is Sara, and I love animals and am very passionate about them.

I own a crested gecko, 3 hermit crabs, a betta, and a 75 gallon community fish tank with schools of platies, zebra danios, and cory cats.
I have only owned amphibious African dwarf frogs in the past, so I have little experience with amphibians.
I hope to change this, though, as I have been researching axolotls for quite some time now. I joined this website to learn more about axolotls and to be closer to people who have similar interests and questions.
My axolotl tank is nearly finished and I will be adding an axolotl to my animal family mid February.
I am glad to be a part of this website, and I will use it to gain further knowledge on how to best care for my new axie and become a better pet parent.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
