Hey everyone, my name's Justin and I live in northern Wisconsin. Any & everything regarding herpetology entices me. I've been keeping cold-blooded creatures my entire life. From catching newts as a kid in NC, to taking in rescued iguanas etc. I've kept amphibians in my collection @ all times to some degree, but caudates have been a HUGE focus the last 2-3 years. It started with visiting vernal pools and the ambystomid species that use them. Researching the laterale/jeffersonium complex locally to endemic species around the globe has been a blast. I've connected with great people from several countries where species occur naturally. Currently I have species ranging from Triturus to Laoensis, but have many more I hope to get the privilege/ opportunity to work with. I hope to connect with others and be of help whenever/ wherever I'm able. Thanks to everyone for being a resource to turn to and keeping the hobby alive with all your time/ energy! II look forward to getting to know users here better and wish everyone the best in whatever way you're involved in this practice! Thanks again

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
