I was reading the original description of Neurergus kaiseri and it is named after it's finder; a mister Kaiser. So the correct english name is not Emperor spotted newt, but Kaiser's newt.
You are right, and I always try to convince people of learning the scientific names, but for some reason people want a name in their own language, but in Europe between salamander keepers we always use scientific names. But in the pet trade you can find any Asiatic newt (from Pachytriton, Paramesotriton and Cynops) under the name of Fire bellied newt. And they even introduce more exotic names to make the profits higher.....
Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation
Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
