Hello,
So I found this guy on my garden the other day. I'm actually thinking about making a little pond for him/her on my garden but I wanted to make sure its not poisonous or dangerous for my dogs.
I'm located in La Molina, a district of Lima, Peru. I used to live here as a kid and used to find toads around but I have never seen one in with this color/pattern.
Could you guys help me ID it?

That toad is a cool find. I believe it's a [Possible Toad Species]. As for your pond idea, it sounds adorable! To be safe, you might want to check local wildlife resources or consult with a vet about potential risks to your dogs. Also, a touch of nature like a creeping thyme lawn around the pond could make it even more charming.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
