Hello, i'm new to owning axolotls and i have just one baby 7cm (2") pure white baby axolotl

I set up a 3ft tank with black fine good quality aquarium sand, fresh plants with more hides and stuff coming soon, that light also has a really low blue light setting that i use to see him and for the plants but i try to keep all lights off when i can.
I am currently on the hunt for a black melanoid type but I live in Gold Coast, Australia and no one around my area seems to have black melanoid babies available. (but if you're in Australia and willing to post please message me for more info)

Meet Creature. :alien: He/She's beautiful but i need to fatten her up :) I've had this baby for a few days now it's settling in well I can wait for it's future friend "Beast" to join the fam as long as i need to with Creature loving the vip service it gets

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
