Hi there!
I'm Billie from Australia NSW and I currently own a beautiful black axolotl! His names Gavin and he's missing all of his front left toes, he came with them like that from the pet shop. He is my first one in quiet a few years maybe 13 years? I'm in love with him ?
Honestly I have gone through heaps with him in the 2 weeks I've had him, he was super sick with a anchorworm that was attached to him when I had brought him. I've also been constantly freaking out when the tiniest thing happens, like he recently had a white slimy coat which he had and then it's recently come back. He also has green marks wouldn't have a clue what they are but I hope it's nothing. I would love to try and keep him the whole 15 years that they live, I'm attached what can I say ?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
