Hello, I'm getting a axolotl very soon and was wonderng if they could happen to eat boots feeder pellets for fish. (Plecostomus, catfish, stuff like that) Here's a pic of ingredients and info. Thanks!

No. If you check the ingredients you'll see that most of them are plant based and the crude protein is only 34% - not good enough for axies.

You need a pellets formulated for carnivourous amphibians, at least 45% protein, and the major ingredients should be fish or invertebrates. Axolotl pellets are easy to come by, as are pellets for salmon and trout.

Probably not. You need to check out the ingredients and nutritional content, or get pellets specially formulated for axies.

Ok, thanks. Do axolotls need pellets? Or can they just eat bloodworms and nightcrawlers?

Best food will always be live earthworms (almost any type). Bloodworm is not a good staple for adults.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
