Hello,

I have three axolotls. I believe they are all within a couple months of each other in age. I believe they’re about 3 years old. We are worried because our only female axolotl was hanging out very still - as lazy axolotls do. However, the two other axolotls kept frantically trying to swim under her as if they were trying to stimulate her and get her moving. This is nothing we’ve ever seen them do. They would try to swim under her belly and she would just get pushed around by them, and not really move. She did kick her back feet just a little bit. At one point they even flipped her over on her back, and she steadily rolled over back to her belly. We are worried that she is hurting in some way so for now we have fridged her. Do you know anything about this?

Much appreciated,
Juliana

Do you have any photos? Is she floating? What are the water parameters?

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
