As the title states I would like to be bombarded with information about axies. Ever since I started following a thread on a betta fish forum about this girl's axolotls I've been obsessed. So I'm currently trying to look up everything I can about their care before I get one.

I know some of the basics, but I want to know more. What's a good soft salmon pellet brand? Where is the best place to buy earthworms? Where can I get an affordable 20g long? What's a good sand brand? What are some good plants that will thrive with axolotls? Who on here sells axies?

So yeah, those are just some of the questions I'd love answers to. :) I really want to do everything right for these amazing little critters.

Welcome to the forum :D
I would start of reading through this :- Axolotls: The Fascinating Mexican Axolotl and the Tiger Salamander
Then read through as many posts as you can in the axolotl forum.....every thing you will ever need to know and more is all there for you to look at.
In the green bar at the top of the page is a search button....its very useful ;)

Thank you for the reply. It was actually axolotl.org that brought me here in the first place. I will certainly be stalking this forum for a long while. :D And the search bar will also be getting a lot of use.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
