Tidbit is about 5 years old and for several months he has been very bloated (pics included) and seems lethargic, he sometimes lays on one side or will hide in one spot in his tank. We have tried fridging , keeping him in a cool closet, laxatives, his water may have gotten too warm during the summer and my water parameters were off, this might have to do with it. In january he went to the vet and got antibiotics because his poop was green. This got rid of the infection but does anyone have any familiarity with this
Ph is 8.2
Parameters are good
He does NOT have gravel in his tank and has not for a while so this isn’t stuck in his stomach, he ears and poops well

Has anyone seen this?? Do you know what I can do for him, he seems sad :( please help, thank you. Pics attached

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
