Should i get an axolotl?

i have a tank 20" L,12"T,11"W is that large enough for 1 axolotl what kind of cage furniture should i use and plants plastic or real? What is the best food i should feed him? Whats the best substrate i should use? How many inches of water and? and lastly what kinda tank furniture ohh! and what kinda filtration and any thing i forgot you can think of.

not to say i should'nt do that but i'd rather hear your expirences with axies not just read what to do but hear how you guys have been succesful

its useful to read the caresheets first (most of which are written by people who have the animal and write down the information instead of reiterating it all the time) and then if you have additional questions, ask them.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
