Question: Dark gray/greenish blobs

Hello,
I am a new axolotl owner. I have searched the forums for an answer to my question but have not found an answer.
I fed my axie last night and it (I haven't determined it's sex yet) and it ate just fine. This morning I observed it really swimming vigouresly around the tank (20 gallon) and on the top of the sand were two greenish/gray blobs. Can you tell me what they might be and should I be concerned? My first thought was sperm packets but they do not look like the photos that John C. has on his excellent website.

What are you feeding your axie? I suspect there is nothing to worry about as the blobs may well be axolotl droppings!!

I have been feeding it blackworms. If it is droppings this is the first that I have seen of them so whew, guess this means that it is ok.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
