Hey there
So recently sold my fluval 205 (I know I miss it already)
because it was putting off way too much current even with
a spray bar it was too much for my 20 gal tall.

So went out and went through 3 different filters til I ended up going
with the cheapest, lowest flow rate one I could find.
Top fin 10.

Even this was too much current for my axie! So I thought I'd just show you
how I fixed the flow rate so there is almost no current whatsoever.

Supplies:
1. Fishing line
2. Foam sponge
3. Hang on back filter
4. Needle (for sewing)
5. Aquarium :p

How to:
1. Thread fishing line through needle and tie off
2. Thread the needle through the sponge horizontally front side and back side
3. Have enough excess that you can loop around inside of filter (I looped mine around the cartridge but you could hang it off of anything on the filter really.)
4. Tie it off so that it won't come apart.
5. You're finished :] no more current.

Sorry I couldn't do step by step pictures. I was already done before I thought about it lol.

The output water will flow into the foam sponge and disperse slowly. Also looks snazzy and minimal. Seems to free float there to the naked eye :p

Pictures included to see finished product.

That's a great idea, I have a hang over the back filter as well, so I'm going to do that. This may be a really stupid question, but what type of foam did you use ? is it the foam like as in a foam sponge or is it a particular type of foam for aquariums ?

I actually used a piece of "replacement" foam for the aquaclear filters. You can buy it here in petstores individually. Honestly any sponge or foam of any kind would work but you might have to cut it down to size. also just make sure it doesn't have any soaps or cleaning products in them cause some sponges do haha. good luck :] mine's working great so far.

I love you for making this!! It's the perfect solution. One question though.. Is it okay for the sponge to be in the water like that? Will it still flow the correctly?
