It took me ages to work out how i can view my fire salamanders when i want to. thought id share this

Be careful with boards like that, they are often treated with chemicals which could be harmful to your salamanders. I'd recommend using slabs of tree bark (like oak, maple, alder etc.) or cork bark instead. Otherwise a clever viewing system!

Nice! I've seen zoo setups like this. You could also try one-way glass.
