So my 5 month 6 inch axie has been eating house night crawlers great but however, I have seen his poop in a while now. He is always begging for food but I just haven’t seen anything yet. His belly is not bigger than his head. He is on bare bottom with temperatures always below 67 degrees Fahrenheit. His stomach is always smaller than his head. He is in a 20 gallon long with a fan on top. But recently, I saw what looked like small bits of his poop scattered throughout his tank. I looked online and saw that sometimes axoltols will tend to eat their poop. Is this true? Is that why he seems a good weight and is always hungry but I can’t find his poop?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
