Sore Mouth?

Hey Guys, Lulu has stopped eating. Its been 4 days now (not panicking yet) but she doesnt seem to want to open her mouth. She moves her head for the food but cant or wont open her mouth. I dont have rocks in my tank that she can swallow or anything else, the only thing i can think of is maybe one of the tiny snails that have hitched a ride into my tank on some plants. They are only about 5mm in length and would be very easy to swallow but i'm not sure how they would get stuck

has anyone experienced this sort of thing before? i'm going home to remove her from the tank, im just getting worried because she is just so skinny (also whats a good food source to "fatten" axie's up a bit)
 
Don't stress too much about 4 days without food - my 10 yr old male axie went about five weeks without food once.

If you keep offering a variety of food she should eat sooner or later - I find prawns are always accepted, naturally. I guess you've checked the water parameters and all that.

As an aside, when my axies are harbouring fertilised eggs they're generally not interested in food, but I guess 4 days is too long for this to be case.
 
she did eat a worm and 1 pellet last night but this morning, she'd thrown it back up. she seems more alert now, ill just have to keep trying!

Hmmm Lulu ate again last night but threw it back up, but she also threw up green stuff it looks like tiny little bits of mould, there was about 10 little bits that came up with the worm. she did eat a pellet and that seems to have stayed down but has anything happened like this to anyone before?(the throwing up green stuff) any suggestions? if there is something wrong its obviously internal

Are there plants in your tank Hailz? If so it could have been that she ate the plants, got sick and threw them up.
 
mmmm i didnt think of that, she normally doesnt eat them but im wondering if maybe she has grabbed them by accident whilst eating.....lets hope thats what it is

My axolotls tend to bite anything near while they're eating. That's why I'm glad I have silk plants. I did witness an axolotl eat significant amounts of elodea before finally figuring out that it wasn't worm. Since axolotls aren't suited for digesting plant material, these would either come up or out as green specks.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
