I have been trying for a long time (unsuccessfully) to get good pictures of Doodad along side my other axolotls so you can see how big she is. She is by far the largest axolotl I have ever owned. She is nearly 14" long and she is wide and tall.

Attached are pictures of her next to normal sized axolotls. They are all nearly the same age within 6 months. Doodad being the 6 months younger than the gold albino (Blingbling) in the picture and the same age as the leucistic (Pea).

Anyway I hope you can get an idea of how large she is from these pictures.

While taking pictures this evening I found out something I did not know about Echo.. she has pretty gold fleck when you take pictures of her with flash. Echo has the strangest face, she just isn't quite right. One of her eyes always looks crooked and she just has a funny face.

Oh that's great to see the then and now shots of Doodad! Such a doll! She and Echo have such unusual coloring! Echo is a big girl! Such great expressions too! I could go on and on, just because I love those colors - but I'll stop...Thanks for the pics! :D

I was so glad to see some of her baby pictures. They are on an old pc that has been stored away in the dreaded closet. I thought I'd never see them again.

Do feel free go to go on, they love the attention :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
