I have fresh water in a 20 gallon tank, I want the treatments and full tank setup to be ready for my axolotl which will be shipped in about 2-7 days. The tank has nothing but treatment and fogged up in two days, I wired up my airline tubing and left the airstones in the tank, do they fog up tanks? I added 5 more gal of water to it, does undertreating/conditioning The new water lead to this?!?!?

I think you don't have to worry about the fogging, it may show up simply because the difference of room temp and tank temps. It would be beneficial if you'd put there some decoration, plants (live plants are the most important in my opinion), maybe bottom material (if you're not choosing a bare bottom) in before your little one arrives so that the beneficial bacteria would have something to grow on. That helps you maintain the tank water stabile which is important to your new pet.
Good luck!

Is it the water that's looking foggy or the tank itself? If it's the water then it's probably a bacterial bloom, if it's the tank then that's a temp difference. As above it's good to put all your decorations in now for the bacteria :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
